Climate Tunnels - What Are The Differences Between The Solid Top And The Slotted Top Units?

ACO Climate Tunnels are available with or without ventilation slots (slotted or solid top).

Slotted top units are installed at surface level allowing the ingress of rainwater, thus not only serving the moisture needs of amphibians, but also creating a thermal effect, helping the crossing temperature to approximate closely to ambient temperatures. The slots in the Climate Tunnel form numerous air-inlet openings so that airflow is minimised and vital moisture is retained whilst also allowing light to enter.

Solid top units are installed either below the surface, if a deeper installation is required, or at surface level if slots are not required, for instance in a pavement or cycleway.
