If you have read our article “Is KerbDrain Watertight?” you’ll know that ACO recommend using an appropriate sealant, such as Sikaflex 11FC or Geocel 945 to form a watertight joint or seal between each individual combined kerb and drainage channel.
So how much sealant will you require?
ACO recommend a sealant bead width of 10mm, however the required amount of sealant must be confirmed by the sealant manufacturer.
Based on a 100mm diameter bead of sealant x 100mm long having a volume of 7.8ml, there is bound to be some waste, so ACO would suggest that a figure of 10ml per 100mm length of sealant bead is used to estimate the quantities required (or 0.1ml per 1mm of sealant bead).
The actual amount used will vary depending on how accurately the bead diameter is applied, how much waste there is at the end of each cartridge, etc.
Please use the figures below for GUIDANCE ONLY.
- KerbDrain HB255 – 12 joints per 600ml sealant tube (Bead length: 500mm, Sealant required per joint 50ml)
- KerbDrain HB305 – 10 joints per 600ml sealant tube (Bead length: 600mm, Sealant required per joint 60ml)
- KerbDrain HB405 – 7.5 joints per 600ml sealant tube (Bead length: 800mm, Sealant required per joint 80ml)
- KerbDrain HB480 – 6.3 joints per 600ml sealant tube (Bead length: 950mm, Sealant required per joint 95ml)
- KerbDrain SP280 – 10.9 joints per 600ml sealant tube (Bead length: 550mm, Sealant required per joint 55ml)
- KerbDrain SP380 – 8 joints per 600ml sealant tube (Bead length: 750mm, Sealant required per joint 75ml)
- KerbDrain SP455 – 6.7 joints per sealant 600ml tube (Bead length: 890mm, Sealant required per joint 89ml)
