Once installed, maintenance is predominantly limited to flushing the amphibian contact surfaces at intervals dependent on the nature of the site.
In heavily forested areas for example, flushing through is typically required at 3 to 5 year intervals. Provided the units are installed correctly then the contact surfaces are often flushed naturally by the effects of rainwater.
It is important that regular inspections are made to ensure that the system continues to function efficiently. As a minimum, this should include a visual inspection prior to spring migration periods and a maintenance plan should be developed to keep the system free of accumulations of vegetation and leaves.
